Buns
I was looking through some old photos and found this one of Emme when she was about 6months old. I had a slight flower hat obsession going on then. I actually still do come to think of it.

It's a really good thing those buns are covered by a diaper most of the time, or they may have been nibbled off by now.

"How to Enjoy the Beach" by Emme
Emme just returned from her first official trip to the beach and she would like to share some helpful tips with you!
Firstly, sand is fun! And tasty! Don't be afraid to get your favorite dress a little sandy. You only live once, right? Plus, Mommy can always wash it. She's a little neurotic about that stuff.

Two words of advice whilst lounging by the pool: Work it. Work it good, honey! (ok that was 4 words) Put on those shades and dip those dainty toes in the water. Afterwards, enjoy a frosty beverage. Preferably Mommy's ice coffee. Ahhhhhh -refreshing!

Bring along a strong daddy to toss you in the air. Fun! Then pretend you are just playing the sand when you are really eating it. Watch Mommy get that crazy face when she sees you eat sand. Giggle. Repeat and repeat.

Also, bring a big brother to show you the ropes. And don't forget to enjoy the beautiful view.

I hope you enjoyed this brief tutorial-have a great summer!

Emme

Five
He is five.

Five years ago today he came into this world, screaming and kicking with huge blue eyes and pink lovely lips. He is tall and skinny, smart and stubborn, kind and naughty. He loves all things boyish-running and jumping, cars and trucks and boats, wrestling and general unruliness. But he will pet a dog or cat ever so gently and carry a worm from the danger of our driveway to a safe muddy home.

When he is happy he is lit from within. When he hurts he feels it deep in his soul.

But he forgives easily and forgets quickly. He is the child who made me a mother and I love him to the moon and back.

Happy Birthday my sweet Noah.
XOXOXO

Today I love . . .
The smell of Hyacinth. Seriously. You should smell my kitchen right now. HEAVENLY!

And big blue eyes . . .

And real, genuine smiles . . .

And little boys with a passion for trains.

Flowers and Lillipops
You know it's Spring when the forsythia are in bloom everywhere you look! It feels so good to see color and life where drab brown and grey used to be. It make me want to plant something pretty and try not to kill it from benign neglect. It makes me want to run through the streets of our subdivision in a dress made out of fancy draperies, singing "the hills are ALIVE ! With flowers and stuff!!!" It makes me want to buy lots of sunscreen and then forget get use it. I always forget to use it!
AND . . .
It makes we want to take some pictures of my chickens. They never forget their sunscreen and are much more photogenic then me. Especially when encouraged (bribed!) with GIGANTIC lollipops. My goodness -look at the size of these!

I took away Emme's lollipop here. She was not pleased.

Oh and did I mention?

Here comes the sun . . .
And oh, how we've missed you! A beautiful day here today so I bribed Noah with some ice cream (chocolate on a cake cone with chocolate jimmies PLEASE!) and we went downtown for some quick photos. He's growing so fast. So I've decided. He needs to stay this age forever.

I thought this old car we happened upon deserved a vintage look . . .
